Sciatica

According to the wikipedia:

Sciatica is a pain in the leg due to irritation of the sciatic nerve.

While it is just the start of their article, it’s an incredible understatement.

For a few months now I’ve kind of ignored a relatively small pain that’s been making noises in my leg. At first it bothered me, but then since it didn’t get any worse and only appeared with occasional, awkward movements, I mostly forgot about it.

Well forget no more! About a week ago the pain started to grow and show up more and more frequently. Now for the last 2-3 days I have been properly hobbled by pain… and humbled by the results of not taking care of myself properly.

Where once I had to really stretch and twist to find the pain, now I just have to sit down… stand up… walk…

Treatment has begun with gentle yoga and some massage, and this week I may just make my second rarest of visits… a trip to the doctor!

A tale of caution! Ignore not the tingling, small pains that warn of growing trauma!

  2. I’m a little biased because I work with Spine-health.com, but I think the Sciatica Health Hub at http://www.spine-health.com/sciatica/ is a fantastic resource for exercises, patient community, finding a physician, and learning more about treatments. Check it out!
